Bowie State and Virginia State to Battle for 2007 CIAA
Softball Championship
Defending Champions NCCU Eliminated From Championship
PETERSBURG, Va. - April 21, 2007- The 2007 CIAA Softball
Championships continued on Friday and all fans in attendance got a
chance to watch two very good softball games on the campus of
Virginia State University.
In the semi-finals, Bowie State defeated the defending champion
Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University 12-4, sending NCCU
to the loser's bracket. Virginia State, on the other hand, had to
play three games in order to take part in the coveted championship
game. After shutting out Johnson C. Smith 12-0, VSU had to battle
back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat ECSU 6-5 in 10 innings, setting
up the other-semi-final match-up. In that contest, the hometown
favorite Lady Trojans ousted NCCU 7-1 advancing VSU to the
championship game.

Championship Game
Game #14 - (12:00 pm) Virginia State vs. Bowie State
Game #15 - (4:30 pm) Tiebreaker (if necessary)
Bowie State comes into the championship game undefeated in the
tournament, so if BSU wins game #14, the Lady Bulldogs will be
crowned the 2007 CIAA Softball Champions. If Virginia State wins, a
tie breaker will be necessary and will be played at 4:30 pm.
Bowie State is 26-7 overall while Virginia State is 23-15.
