FAYETTEVILLE STATE, BOWIE STATE TO MEET IN CIAA
VOLLEYBALL FINAL
Finals to Feature CIAA Player, Coach and Rookie of the
Year

CHARLOTTE, NC- Fayetteville State University and Bowie State University will clash on Saturday, November 10th at 5:00pm at the Grady Cole Center to determine the 2007 CIAA Volleyball Champion.
Something will have to give on Saturday afternoon when the two teams meet as neither has dropped a match during the 2007 Volleyball Tournament, each sporting 4-0 marks since play began Friday. Also unique to the Finals is that it will feature the CIAA Rookie of the Year in Bowie State's Bethany Sloat and Player and Coach of the Year, respectively with FSU's Chekimbrel Jefferson and Elorine Hill.
The top seeded Fayetteville State Lady Broncos swept Elizabeth City State University 30-26, 30-27 and 30- 24 to earn their trip to Saturday's Final. FSU (24-10) will look to capture the third CIAA Volleyball Crown in school history (1996, 1998) and their first in nine seasons. CIAA Player of the Year Chekimbrel Jefferson led the way for the Lady Broncos with a game high 14 kills while the Lady Vikings were paced by All-CIAA tandem Eva Johnson and Christina Hager who each contributed 12 kills apiece. ECSU, the 2007 Eastern Division Champions, finishes the best season in school history at 21-11 overall.
The first semi-final was a see-saw affair but Bowie State University (15-13) held off Livingstone College in a 5-game marathon (30-20, 29-31, 17-30, 30-24 and 15-12) to punch their ticket to the Finals. The Lady Bulldogs will look to win the first CIAA Volleyball crown in school history when they take the floor on Saturday afternoon. Tamira Conner-Rogers led all scorers with 20 kills while 2007 CIAA Rookie of the Year Bethany Sloat and Tiffany Toney each chipped in with 15 kills each. Livingstone ends its season at 20-8 overall.
