Virginia State gets rematch with Bowie State for CIAA Softball Championship

After falling to Bowie State earlier in the day, 5-3, Virginia State knocked off Johnson C. Smith to force a rematch with the defending champion Lady Bulldogs for the 2008 CIAA Softball Championship.
JCSU moved through the loser's bracket with victories over Shaw and Fayetteville State earlier before being eliminated in a 9-8 loss to VSU in the afternoon finale of the second day of competition.
Bowie State defeated Virginia State in the 2007 Championship Game to claim its first-ever conference softball crown.
Now the two teams will meet again for the 2008 title at high noon at the softball field at VSU.

Game 9 - Johnson C. Smith defeated Shaw
Game 10 - Fayetteville State defeated Saint Augustine's , 12-2
Game 11 - Bowie State defeated Virginia State, 5-3
Game 12 - Johnson C. Smith defeated Fayetteville State, 8-5
Game 13 - Virginia State defeated Johnson C. Smith, 9-6
