Fall Coaches of the Year Announced

Hampton, VA...The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has selected its Fall Coaches of the Year for 2008. Each coach is awarded this honor by their respective coaches associations in conjunction with the CIAA Executive Committee.
Cross Country- Men and Women
Ernest Moss of Virginia State University has been selected as the 2008 Cross Country Coach of the Year. The Virginia State Trojans defended their 2007 title with a first place finish at this year's 2008 Men's Cross Country Championship.
Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, George Williams of St. Augustine's College, shared the championship post this season with Moss and the VSU Lady Trojans. The Lady Falcons reclaimed their title from last year with a 94-point difference between their trailing competition.
Volleyball
Head Coach of Elizabeth City State University, Linda Bell, has been honored as 2008 Volleyball Coach of the Year. Coach Bell and the Lady Vikings finished the regular season with an undefeated conference record. Bell can also boast, leading the 2008 Rookie of the Year, Chelsea Amick. Entering the championship tournament as the top seed in the East, the Lady Vikings captured their first-ever CIAA Volleyball Championship.
Football
After winning the Eastern Divisional title, and a berth in the CIAA Football Championship Game, Waverly Tillar takes home the 2008 Football Coach of the Year award. The Vikings finished the season with an undefeated conference record, 7-0,7-4. Tillar also coached this season's CIAA Offensive Player of the Year, Curtis Rich.
The Fall Coaches of the Year will be formally honored at the CIAA Coach of the Year Luncheon, held at the Spring General Assembly Meeting in May.
