RAIN SUSPENDS PLAY IN THE 2011 CIAA MEN’S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINALS

Play expected to resume on Saturday at 8 a.m.

Ettrick, VA – With the semifinal matchup between No. 2 Winston-Salem State and No. 3 Virginia State underway in the 2011 CIAA Men’s Tennis Championship, rainfall suspended the remaining tournament play for Friday afternoon at Virginia State Tennis Courts. Tournament play will commence on Saturday, April 23rd at 8:00 a.m. to include semifinals and finals matches.

Winston-Salem State and Virginia State did manage to finish their doubles matches. The Rams swept doubles play to move ahead 3-0, only needing two additional match points to advance.

Top seed Shaw University and No. 5 Johnson C. Smith University will begin their semifinal match on Saturday morning.

Following the conclusion of the semifinal matches, the tournament will continue with the finals to crown a 2011 CIAA Champion on Saturday evening.
