Lincoln University, Pa. - Lincoln University Athletics Director, Harry Stinson III, is proud to announce the Lincoln University Athletics Director's Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 season.
A total of 103 student-athletes and cheerleaders were selected to this year's academic honor roll. In order to be selected, a student-athlete must have completed two full-time semesters at the institution and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Thirty-three of the athletes selected participated in two or more sports.
"Champions in the Classroom is one of our goals and seeing the success of our students is such a great feeling," says Stinson. "Our students are leaders in the classroom and community and I'm excited to recognize such a large group of students, coaches and staff for their commitment to scholastic achievement!"
Women's Soccer player Samanta Sosa (Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras/Freedom (Harris-Stowe)) led the group with a 3.975 cumulative grade point average. Sosa, a junior, started all 11 games for the Lions and was fourth on the team with ten points. She also played softball in the spring semester.
Seven of the Lions' 13 sports along with the cheerleading team had at least ten student athletes honored on this year's academic honor roll. The football team led all sports with 20 honorees. Four teams had 13 honorees apiece; the women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams; the women's soccer team and the men's outdoor track and field team.
Rounding out the programs with ten or more honorees were the cheerleading team, women's volleyball team and men's indoor track and field team with 12 honorees apiece.
A total of 24 different majors are represented among the 103 student-athletes honored representing such diverse interests as Mass Communications, Health Science, Business, Political Science, Psychology and a host of others. Eight of the honorees have double majors.
