Chowan University Named Winner of the CIAA Positive Game Environment Award

Hampton, VA…This year, Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C) officers from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) selected Chowan University as the school with the most “Positive Game Environment”.

S.A.A.C. officers voted for which opposing school they felt most exemplified the following criteria: Showing respect for officials, opponents and fans; Providing unbiased public address announcements; and Providing a hospitable environment for opposing teams. 

In 2011-2012, a winner will be selected for each CIAA sport throughout the year.  By encouraging and promoting a Positive Game Environment, student-athletes are held responsible for their conduct and can be proud to host other teams. 

Chowan University will proudly receive and display a banner to honor their accomplishment.
