CIAA High School Day Summary
CIAA High School Day Summary
The CIAA High School Day continues to be a popular event held
annually during the weeklong tournament. There were
approximately 1200 students, representing more than 30 high schools
in attendance for the half-day event.
High School Day provided an opportunity for high school students
to meet with CIAA conference schools’ admissions and
financial aid personnel during the college fair. Students
also attended various workshops with topics on business etiquette,
interviewing skills, and preparing for life after high school.
The event ended with an awards presentation where 30 students were
acknowledged as having been nominated for one of three awards in
the areas of “Highest Achiever”, “Greatest
Improvement” and “Perseverance.” The three
students presented with plaques for excelling in those categories
were Tremaine Gordon (Mooresville High School) for Highest
Achiever, Whitney Sherrill (Mooresville High School) for Greatest
Improvement, and Maressa Alston (Weldon High School) for
Perseverance.
A $1,000 scholarship was also presented to students at Phillip O.
Berry Academy of Technology (Jalyssa Anderson, Davion Forney,
Samuel Effinger, Brittany Harris-Davis) for their original skit
based on the CIAA conference school of their choice.
