SU'S Ffion Fletcher selected CIAA Top Scholar Athlete

Durham, NC - Shaw University senior tennis standout Ffion Fletcher was presented the Women's Scholar Athlete Award given each year to the top student athlete in the conference who excels in the classroom and in athletic competition.  The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) held its final awards luncheon today as part of their annual spring meeting at the Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park in Durham, NC.

Fletcher finished her senior year with a 4.0 GPA in Computer Information Systems and graduated with honors on Saturday, May 13.  The Montego Bay, Jamaica native received the award for the second consecutive year, completing a successful year in the classroom and in athletic competition.  She was selected the CIAA's Women's Tennis Player of the Year this season after an unbeaten tennis season (19-0) and was also named the Tennis Tournament MVP after winning her second consecutive #1 Singles Championship.  In her two years of tennis competition at SU, Fletcher finished with an impressive 44-0 record.
