Hendricks is a native of Auburn, AL and serves as the university’s senior woman administrator and coordinator of the health and human performance department. Kelly, a graduate of JCSU, is a native of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and has been employed as the sports information director for the past four years.

The NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Females was designed to address the critical shortage of senior-level women of color in athletics administration at NCAA member institutions and conference offices. The institute prepares diverse leaders through a 12-month leadership training and skills development experience enhancing their job-related competencies in selected areas through completion of four professional development sessions, practical work and a week-long intensive workshop.

The Institute for Ethnic Minority Females is led by a diverse group of recognized leaders in business, higher education and intercollegiate athletics. Attendees were selected from a list of applicants that were nominated by a staff member from the NCAA institution or conference office where they are currently employed.

Each participant must complete four consecutive weekend development sessions before completing the week-long intensive workshop. Upon completion of the Institute, institutions of the participants or the individual will receive a $3,000 scholarship to defray costs incurred during the 12-month institute period.

“We are very excited and proud for the opportunity that has been presented for both Dr. Hendricks and Kristene,” said Steve Joyner, athletics director. “I am pleased that they have extended themselves to take part in this process. Johnson C. Smith University will definitely benefit from this educational experience.”
