The CIAA Announces 2005-2006 Basketball Coaches of the Year

Hampton, VA…The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has selected Jacques Curtis of Shaw University and Dave Robbins of Virginia Union University as Women’s and Men’s Coach of the Year, respectively.
 
Jacques Curtis, (16-0, 23-4), leads the three-time reigning CIAA Women’s Tournament Champions and is currently holding a 73-game undefeated CIAA opponent winning streak. The Lady Bears are entering the CIAA Tournament as the first seed in the East and will face-off against the victor of the St. Augustine’s vs Virginia State game on Tuesday, 9:00pm.
 
Dave Robbins, (14-2, 22-3), is bringing the reigning Division II Men’s Basketball National Champions to Charlotte, as the first seed in the East.  Robbins strives to defend his CIAA Championship title this year against the winner of the North Carolina Central vs Shaw competition on Thursday, 7:00pm. 
 
The 2005-06 CIAA Basketball Coaches of the Year will be honored at the women’s and men’s tip-off banquet and the annual CIAA Coach of the Year Luncheon in May.
