Saint Paul's College professor Robert L. Satcher Sr. has been named
the school's interim president, a school spokesman said
yesterday.
His appointment by the school's board of trustees is effective
immediately and follows the resignation of John K. Waddell, who
announced last week he was leaving Saint Paul's to become president
of Paul Quinn College in Dallas.
"The Saint Paul's community is extremely blessed to have the good
fortune of having in its ranks an individual at the caliber of Dr.
Satcher," board chairman Kerby L. Parker said in a statement.
"Saint Paul's College will continue to thrive under the stewardship
of Dr. Satcher."
Satcher currently serves as a professor of chemistry at Saint
Paul's and has taught physics and physical-science courses. He has
served as vice president of academic affairs, provost and acting
president at the school.
A private, historically black college, Saint Paul's is in
Lawrenceville, about 70 miles south of Richmond. The school has
about 700 students and is affiliated with the Episcopal Church.
