Hampton, VA…The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) are excited to announce that the kick-off to the Pioneer Bowl Battle of the Bands Fan Voting Contest will begin this Saturday, August 26, 2006 with the CIAA/SIAC Challenge, North Carolina Central University vs. Albany State University, Durham, NC, 6:00pm.

The Pioneer Bowl Battle of the Bands Fan Voting Contest encourages fans to visit the www.PioneerBowl.com website each week, after seeing their favorite band play. 

The top band from each conference with the most votes, will receive an invitation to compete in the Pioneer Bowl Battle of the Bands Competition on Friday, December 1, 2006.

The Pioneer Bowl pits the top representative of the CIAA against the top opponent from the SIAC, and is the only NCAA-sanctioned bowl game for HBCU’s.  This year’s Pioneer Bowl is scheduled for December 2, 2006, at the American Legion Memorial Stadium, Charlotte, NC.
