SU’s Dianthia Ford-Kee named National Administrator of the Year

Wilmington, NC - The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) announced today that SU Associate Athletics Director Dianthia Ford-Kee will be the recipient of the 2006 Division II National Administrator of the Year Award. The National Administrator of the Year Award is bestowed to NACWAA members whom have made significant contributions as administrators of intercollegiate athletics. Honorees will accept their awards at the NACWAA National Convention Administrator of the Year Award Dinner, sponsored by Jostens, in Sacramento, California, October 9, 2006, beginning at 7:00 PM.

This award, recognizing administrative excellence, is presented annually to a NACWAA member in the following categories: NCAA Divisions I-A, I-AA, I-AAA; NCAA Division II; NCAA Division III; NAIA/Junior/Community Colleges; and Conferences/Organizations. “We are honored to recognize these outstanding administrators for their hard work and dedication to the field of intercollegiate athletics,” said Jennifer Alley, Executive Director.

Ford-Kee is in her 16th year at Shaw University, having served as senior woman administrator, head softball and volleyball coach, and course instructor. She resigned from her coaching duties in 1994 to focus on her role as associate athletics director and SWA.

Currently, Ms. Ford Kee is serving on the NCAA Division II Management Council, the NCAA Division II Nominating Committee, the NCAA Division II Project Team and has served on the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics. Additionally, Ms. Ford-Kee has been active on Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association committees including the CIAA Executive Committee vice president for women sports. Ms. Ford-Kee has received many honors over her career, having been named CIAA Softball and Volleyball Coach of the Year several times. Ms. Ford-Kee is a graduate of the 2002 NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement, was inducted into the Wake County (NC) Academy of Women-Athletics in 1998, and was a nominee for the North Carolina Distinguished Women Award-Athletics in 1999.
