CIAA Fall Coaches of the Year Announced During Fall Championship Weekend

Charlotte, NC...The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association
has selected its Fall Coaches of the Year for 2007. Each
coach is awarded this honor by their respective coaches
associations in conjunction with the CIAA Executive Committee.
Cross Country- Men and Women
Leslie Young of Virginia State University has been selected as both
the 2007 Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
The Virginia State Trojans captured the 2007 Men's Cross Country
Championship after finishing in second place in 2006. The
Lady Trojans finished second this season, moving up three places
from 3rd and 6th in 2006 and 2005, respectively.
Volleyball
Head Coach of Fayetteville State University, Elorine Hill, has been
honored as 2007 Volleyball Coach of the Year. Coach Hill has
led the Lady Broncos to an undefeated CIAA season; breezing by CIAA
opponents. As the Western Divisional champion, Hill can also
boast having coached this season's CIAA Player of the Year,
Chekimbrell Jefferson.
Football
After winning the Eastern Divisional title, and a berth in the CIAA
Football Championship Game, Arrington Jones, III is riding high as
the 2007 Football Coach of the Year. The Virginia Union
Panthers finished the regular season with a 9-1 record.
Women's Bowling
Joining his colleague from Fayetteville State University, Head
Bowling Coach Bobby Henderson has been selected as 2007 Women's
Bowling Coach of the Year. Henderson has led the Lady Broncos
to a first place position in the Western Division, and finished the
season with a 44-1 record.
The Fall Coaches of the Year will be formally honored at the CIAA
Coach of the Year Luncheon at the end of the academic year.
