WNBA Top Executive Speaks at the 2008 CIAA Women's Tip-Off Banquet

Hampton, VA...Renee Brown, WNBA Chief of Basketball Operations and Player Relations, has been invited as the special guest to rouse minds and spirits at the 2008 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Tip-Off Banquet at the Westin Hotel, on Sunday, February 24.  The Women's Tip-Off Banquet will kick off the 2008 CIAA Basketball Tournament.

Renee Brown is a 1978 graduate of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.  Soon after graduation she began her career in coaching by serving as an assistant coach for the women's basketball teams at the University of Kansas, Stanford University and San Jose University.  At Kansas, Brown aided in coaching the winning Jayhawks to an 88-31 record with four trips to the NCAA Tournament and Big East Conference title.  During her term at Stanford, her team won the NCAA tournament in 1990 and coined a trip to the Final Four in 1991. Throughout the 1995-96 seasons, Brown served as an assistant coach to Tara VanDerveer for the gold medal winning USA Basketball Women's National Team in Colorado Springs. 

Currently, Brown serves as Chief of Basketball Operations and Player Relations for the WNBA.  She oversees all player scouting and acquisitions for the league as well as the administration of player-related policies and programs.  Brown has been with the WNBA since 1996 as a Director of Player Personnel and was later promoted to Vice President in March 2000.
