Sykes Resigns as VUU's Sports Information Director

RICHMOND, VA - After serving as Virginia Union University's Sports Information Director for two years, Tiffani Sykes has resigned from the University effective January 5, 2009. 

During her tenure at VUU, she also served one year as the athletic department's Senior Woman Administrator.  She has chosen to pursue a master's degree in Sports Administration from Grambling State University. 

Tiffani Sykes "I truly appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to serve Virginia Union University, its student-athletes and coaches", said Sykes. 

Prior to joining the staff at Virginia Union, Sykes served as the Assistant Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator and Sports Information Director at Saint Paul's College (Lawrenceville, VA) from 2002-2006. 

During her two years at Virginia Union, Sykes served as the primary liaison between the University's 15 NCAA Division II sports programs and the media.  She was responsible for launching the school's new athletic website www.vuusports.com <http://www.vuusports.com/> .  Sykes also graduated from the NCAA's Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Females in the summer of 2007.  In addition, she has served as a member of NCAA Regional Ranking Committees for various sports. 

The Chesapeake, VA native earned her bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance from Virginia State University (Petersburg, VA) in 2001.  She also did additional graduate work at VSU, while serving as a Graduate Assistant Volleyball Coach. 

"I am excited about making the move to Grambling, LA and the opportunities that it will present for me as I continue to develop myself professionally", said Sykes. 

The search for a new Sports Information Director will begin immediately.
