The CIAA Mourns the Loss of 2008 Hall of Fame Member, Dr. Alvin M. Brown

Dr. Alvin M. Brown attended Morgan State College (MSC), where he majored in Science. While attending MSC he was a three-year letterman for the football team in 1941-1944. Dr. Brown also was, co-captain of the basketball team, where he was a four-year letterman and lead his team to two CIAA Basketball Championships in 1944 and 1945.
Dr. Brown was also the teammate of the late Clarence "Big House" Gaines and the legendary Calvin Irving.
The Carl H. Chavis Award was presented to Dr. Brown in 1945 for being an outstanding student-athlete. Additionally, Dr. Brown was also recognized on All-Conference teams and was noted on the Afro-American and Norfolk Journal and Guide Newspaper all-star teams.
