BSU's Hyman and VSU's Taylor named HSRN Players of the Week
BSU’s Hyman & VSU’s Taylor win National Player of the Week Honors

Hartly, DE – Bowie State’s Travis Hyman and Virginia State’s Rhon’Neisha Taylor are the winners of the HSRN Players of the Week basketball fan poll. They were nominated for their performances in games played from February 6th thru February 12th, 2011. Each week during the season, HSRN’s staff will select the top performances from all HBCU action and give the fans across the country a chance to vote for the Player of the Week.
HSRN developed the fan poll to get all HBCU alumni, students and fans involved with the national process and to also give everyone a chance to consistently keep up with the individual performances around the country. This web site and our broadcasts are designed to keep you abreast of all action around HBCU athletic competition.
Div. II Men
Travis Hyman – Bowie St. – C – 7’0, 245 – JR/Annapolis, MD
Hyman averaged 19 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6 blocks in four games, leading the Bulldogs to a 3-1 week. In the 91-88 win over Lincoln (PA) he finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, seven blocks and three steals. In the 82-75 win over Chowan, he had 19 points, nine rebounds and six blocks,. In their lone setback (77-52) at Elizabeth City St. he finished with six points, five rebounds and four blocks. Against Lincoln (PA) on Saturday, he finished with a double-double, 32 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks, leading BSU to a 83-62 win.
Div. II Women
Rhon’Neisha Taylor – Virginia St. – G – 6’ – SR/Nashville, TN
Taylor led the Lady Trojans to a 2-1 week averaging 22.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, three assists and five steals. She had 23 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals in the 64-49 win over St. Paul’s. In their 70-67 setback against St. Augustine’s, she finished with 20 points , six rebounds, three assists and five steals and in the 86-60 win over rival Virginia Union, she had 24 points, five rebounds, three assists and six steals.
