Hartly, DE – It’s
week seven of the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) National
Player of the Week fan poll voting. Each week,
HSRN will announce a men and women national player of the week from
both Division I and Division II action.
The top performance each week will be selected and the HBCU fans across the country will get a chance to cast their vote for who they think had the best game. The Fan Poll is designed to get fans involved with the excitement of the HBCU college basketball action. Fans are asked to log on to HSRN.com and cast their vote for the top performance. Fans can vote on the poll today (Mon. Feb. 21) thru Wed. (Feb. 23) until 11 am ET. Voting this week is for games played from February 14th thru February 19th, 2011. The CIAA nominees for this week are:
Braxton Byerson – VA Union – G/F – 6’3, 210 – SR/Colonial Heights, VA
Byerson finished the week averaging 27 points and led the Panthers to a 3-0 week. In the 69-59 win over Chowan he finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, one assist and three steals. In their 79-73 win over Livingston, he had 30 points, six rebounds and seven steals and in the 62-48 win over Lincoln he finished with 25 points, four rebounds, three assists and six steals.
Allison Sikes – St. Augustine’s – F – 5’10 – SR/Richmond, VA
Sikes led the Falcons to a 2-0 week averaging a double-double, 23 points and 11.5 rebounds. In their 67-48 win over Fayetteville St. she had 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists and 11 steals. In the 83-73 win over Livingstone, she finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, one block and four steals.
