Bowie State Bulldogs Selected To NCAA Divsion II Championship Field

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.)  The NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee announced the field of 64 teams for the 2011 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship.

Twenty-two conferences have been awarded automatic qualification. The committee selected the remaining 42 teams at-large.  Bowie State University an at-large selection is seeded #3 overall in the Atlantic Region and will face Mansfield University, the #6 seed on Saturday, March 12 on the campus of West Liberty (W.Va.) University at a time to be determined.   Bowie State and Mansfield met back on December 3, 2010 (at Bowie State), with Bulldogs defeating the Mountaineers 82-81 in overtime.

All eight teams within the region will travel to one site for first-round, semifinal and final competition at the regional level. First-round games will be played March 12, semifinal games March 13 and the regional championship will be played March 15. The regional champions will advance to the NCAA Men’s Elite Eight March 23, 24 and 26 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.
