CIAA mourns the loss of former Norfolk State basketball coach Charles Christian

The CIAA mourns the loss of former Norfolk State basketball coach Charles Christian who passed away this afternoon in Suffolk, VA.  He was 83. 

An alumnus of Virginia State University, Christian was recently recognized by ESPN as one of twelve CIAA basketball coaching legends.  During his 14 years coaching the Spartans (1973-78, 191-90), he had eleven 20-plus-win seasons.  His teams won seven CIAA titles and three NCAA Division II regional titles.  He finished his career with a record of 319-95.
