VSU's Davis named NACDA Regional Athletics Director of the Year

VSU’s Athletic Director, Peggy Davis was named the SE Region Athletics Director of the Year for 2010-11. Mrs. Davis will be recognized during NACDA’s 46th Annual Convention in Orlando, FL on Saturday, June 18th at the James j. Corbett Awards Luncheon.

Sponsored by Under Armour, Davis was one of 28 winners of the AD of the Year Award (ADOY) announced on Monday, June 13th by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). She is the winner of the southeast region for Division II. NACDA Executive Director Mike Cleary explains the ADOY Award is essential because it highlights the efforts of athletics directors at all levels for their commitment and positive contributions to campuses and their surrounding communities.

Last month, Mrs. Davis received the 2011 CIAA Athletic Director of the Year Award. Davis and VSU’s athletic department participated in several community service events during the 2010-11 year; Trojans “Stuff the Bus” in August, Walk for Breast Cancer in October, Walk Against Hunger and Thanksgiving Baskets for families in Petersburg both in November, and teamed up to help build the community partnering up with Habitat for Humanities in a year-long project. This is Davis’ fourth CIAA Athletic Director of the Year Award in five years.
