Hampton, VA – Virginia State University (VSU) graduate and
former Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) intern,
Curtis Walker, has earned an internship at the National Collegiate
Athletic Association Headquarters in the Championships and
Alliances Department.
Walker is one of nineteen individuals who were selected out of
hundreds of applicants for this competitive internship program. The
purpose of the program is to provide on-the-job learning
experiences for college graduates with an interest in pursuing a
career in intercollegiate athletics administration.
A graduate of the VSU Health and Physical Education department,
Walker’s experiences are diverse. His experiences stretch
from being the President of the Health, Physical Education,
Recreation, and Dance (HPERD)/Sport Management Majors Club at VSU,
to serving as an intern in the VSU Athletic Department, Central
Intercollegiate Athletic Association Headquarters, Colonial
Athletic Association headquarters, NASCAR, and more.
In a statement from Walker…“It is truly a blessing to
be able to be given an opportunity to showcase the skills that my
experiences have allowed me to obtain. I encourage all students to
reach for their dreams and pursue what greatness is in their own
minds. It is imperative that the years we spend in college
aren’t wasted because each year that passes cannot be done
over; therefore, it is essential to capitalize on every opportunity
that may come.”
