Hampton, VA…The Central Intercollegiate Athletic
Association’s Golf and Track and Field Coaches Associations,
have selected this year’s Golf and Track and Field Coaches of
the Year.
Raymond McDougal of Fayetteville State University
has been honored with this year’s Golf Coach of the
Year. The Broncos captured this season’s CIAA
Golf Tournament; their 26th for the university. The Broncos are
currently competing in the NCAA’s Super Regional Tournament;
having finished in the Top 15 after Round One.
Virginia State University’s Jason-Lamont
Jackson, Women’s Outdoor Track and Field
Coach of the Year, has raised the profile of Trojan Track
and Field by leading the women’s team from a 4th place finish
in 2011 to claiming the 2012 CIAA Women’s Track and Field
Championship this April. Jackson is finishing his second
season with Virginia State.
This season’s Men’s Outdoor Track and Field
Coach of the Year, George Williams of St.
Augustine’s College, led the men’s squad to another
CIAA Championship; claiming the top spot with 218 points- a
whopping 129 points over the number two finisher. St. Aug
currently ranks #2 in the national polls- as selected by the
national track and field coaches association (USTFCCCA).
The 2012 CIAA Coaches of the Year will be honored at the Annual
CIAA Coach of the Year Luncheon on May 24, 2012 at the Newport News
Marriott at City Center, Newport News, VA.
