Fifteen Saint Augustine’s University Student-Athletes Win National Academic Awards
Fifteen student-athletes from Saint Augustine’s University
earned academic achievement awards from the Division 2 Athletic
Directors Association (D2ADA) for the 2011-12 season recently.
The academic winners were Joshua Easter (baseball), Christopher
Copeland (track & field), Rory Nixon (football/track &
field), Chris Octetree (men’s tennis), Victoria Davis
(women’s volleyball/basketball), Ebony Spencer (women’s
basketball), Brittany Torain (women’s basketball), Jolisa
Williams (women’s basketball), Jasmine Cobbs (women’s
track & field/cross country), Keisha Parris (women’s
volleyball/track & field), Kathryn Tokarski (women’s
volleyball/track & field/softball), Ramadana Simmons
(softball), Alicia Eldridge (women’s bowling), Roxanne Smith
(women’s volleyball/tennis) and Justin Williams
(football).
To win an academic achievement award, a student-athlete must have a
cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale,
completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level
work, and been an active member of an intercollegiate team during
his/her last academic year. A record number of NCAA Division II
institutions (118) and student-athletes (4,492) were recognized for
the awards. The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that
recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes on the
Division II level.
