Bowlers Begin Bracket Play
Fayetteville, NC - (November 6, 2006) Fayetteville State University and Bowie State University advanced to the championship bracket of the 6th Annual CIAA Bowling Championship held at Fayetteville's B & B Bowling Lanes. At the end of the second day action, Fayetteville State University is the point leader with 74.5 followed by Bowie State University 70 and Saint Paul's College 66.
Eight eight-teams will be played with a double-elimination, best three-of-five game matches. The winner of the CIAA Championship will advance to the NCAA Division I/II Championship.
The CIAA bowlers continued their hot pace set yesterday. Seven bowlers had 200 plus games with Adorna Hayward of Virginia State University rolling a 255. She was followed by the CIAA Bowler of the Year, Jessica New with a 233.
Fayetteville State Alicia Winstead and Jessica Florit had 216 and 221 games respectively. Action will resume Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at B & B Lanes located on Fort Bragg Road.
