INDIANAPOLIS, IN – In this week's national statistical
rankings, the Chowan University softball and baseball teams placed
in the top 25 in several categories.
Leading the accolades in softball is a third place ranking in
stolen bases per game. The Hawks' average of 3.13 is just behind
Stillman College and Texas Women's University.
Chowan is averaging 7.40 runs scored per contest, which ranks ninth
nationally. The Hawks are ranked 21st in a pair of batting
categories: batting average (.334) and triples per game (0.38).
The Hawks baseball squad is currently ranked 13th in sacrifice
bunts. On the year, Chowan has laid down 33 sacrifices. They also
come in at #23 in strike-outs (pitching) per nine innings. Chowan
hurlers are striking out 8.4 batters per nine innings of play.
Chowan baseball is currently 19-14 overall, and 15-3 in CIAA play.
The CU softball team sits at 25-17 overall, 15-1 in the CIAA.
