by Rams Sports Information Department

Winston-Salem, NC – The D2 Baseball World Series is raging on, but it is time to hand out the final award of the season as we search for who the best position player and pitcher were during the 2017 season.

For the Player of The Year vote, players were split into position players and pitchers, and polls for each followed the candidate files. People were advised to vote often, and spread the word to help your favorite candidate receive the title of Player of The Year.

Randy Norris, WSSU utility player, was selected as the D2 National Baseball Player of the Year today, by Hero Sports.

Norris hit .354 with 84 hits in 237 at-bats. He also had seven doubles, four triples and five home runs, while knocking in 35 on the season. Norris walked 20 times and finished the season with a team record 47 stolen bases in 53 attempts.

Norris led the Rams to the Atlantic Regional Final game, where they fell, 12-7, to West Chester.

Please join The CIAA in congratulating Randy Norris, as the D2 Baseball National Player of the Year.
