SPC Football Standout Set to Donate Hair to "Locks of Love"
February 21, 2006
LAWRENCEVILLE, VA - Saint Paul's College football player Shaun Gutierrez is looking forward to "losing" for once. The 2005 All-CIAA football player currently sports long, dark, wavy tresses that are most often secured in a ponytail.
Gutierrez, who has been growing his hair for three years, will "lose" his hair at half-time of the Saint Paul’s College men’s basketball game on Wednesday, February 22, 2006. After the haircut, Gutierrez’s hair will be shipped to the "Locks of Love" headquarters in Lake Worth, FL. Upon receipt of the donation, the hair will be combined with the hair of 6-10 other donors and then made into a hair prosthesis. After the prosthesis is completed, it will be donated to a financially disadvantaged child that suffers from any type of medical hair loss.
SPC is scheduled to take on St. Andrews Presbyterian College at that time in non-conference basketball action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm on the campus of Saint Paul’s College.
