Saint Paul's unveils new football jerseys

July 28, 2005

SPC football will sport a new look in 2005.

Coach Willard Bailey’s Tigers will wear jerseys with a style that captures the essence of a revitalized Saint Paul’s College Football Program.

This is the first major uniform change for the Tigers since SPC brought back its club football program in 2002.

In 2005, the Tigers will wear jerseys similar to those worn by the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals. In addition, a single stripe runs from the middle of the neckline, and extends down the side of the uniform. Both home and away jerseys feature a single crescent on each shoulder pad. Traditionally, institutions wear their school name on away uniforms and the mascot name on home uniforms; however “Saint Paul’s College” will be proudly displayed on the chest of every player during home and away contests. The essence of the Tiger is captured on the neckline of the uniforms and the trim of the sleeves. Both of these areas are Tiger striped.

The Tigers will wear helmets that are identical to those of the previously mentioned Cincinnati Bengals. This is the third helmet design in recent years. When the football program was restored in 2002, the Tigers wore solid black helmets. In 2004, SPC sported black helmets with orange stripes. The 2005 edition of the helmet is orange with black stripes.

The Tigers will debut their new jerseys on August 27 against the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University in Silver City, NM.
