Carolina Panthers’ Donnie Shell to Deliver Keynote Message at Pioneer Bowl Banquet

Charlotte, NC… The Central Intercollegiate Athletic
Association (CIAA) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic
Association (SIAC) welcome Donnie Shell, Director of Player
Development for the Carolina Panthers, as the keynote speaker for
this year’s 8th Annual Pioneer Bowl Banquet, Thursday,
December 1, 2005 at the Westin Hotel- Downtown Charlotte,
7:30pm.
Since 1994, Shell has coordinated all of the Panthers’ player
programs including financial education, family assistance, career
internships, and continuing education; all programs designed to
help players succeed following their on-field careers.
Donnie is a member of the famed Pittsburgh Steelers’
“Steel Curtain” defense which shut down NFL offenses in
the late 1970s. He won four Super Bowls, was selected to represent
the AFC in the Pro Bowl five times and retired as the NFL strong
safety career leader in interceptions with 51. He was a starter for
all 11 straight years with the Steelers, was selected to the
Steelers’ All-Time Team and to the NFL Silver Anniversary
Super Bowl Team.
The Pioneer Bowl will kick-off at the American Legion Memorial
Stadium, December 3 at 2:00pm. It will be televised on ESPN
