Charlotte, NC- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association
(CIAA) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)
have selected the Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls and the
Tuskegee University Golden Tigers, to vie for the Pioneer Bowl
title on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the American Legion

turn-around from the 2005 season, the Golden Bulls finished the
regular season with a 7-3 record, up from 0-10. Towards the
later part of the season, the Golden Bulls broke into the Southeast
Region as the 12th ranked squad ( the Oct. 30 poll).
This year will mark Tuskegee's 7th appearance in the bowl, with a
4-2 record against the opposition. This season, Tuskegee
finished 7-3, 5-2 in the SIAC, second to Albany State who is slated
for the NCAA Division II playoffs. Tuskegee is also HBCU's
winningest football team with 586 wins to date.
The Pioneer Bowl is the only NCAA sanctioned bowl game for HBCU's.
