VSU'S MORAND PICKED FOR NCAA COACHES ACADEMY

Michael Morand, offensive coordinator for the Virginia State University football team, has been chosen to attend the NCAA Football Coaches Academy, to be held June 28-July 1 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Morand, who is entering his second season with the Trojans, graduated from Florida A & M in 2001.

The NCAA Football Coaches Academy is developed to increase the interests of minorities for head coaching positions.  This academy is sponsored by NCAA Diversity & Inclusion and the Minority Opportunities & Interests Committee.

Program Objectives are to Increase the understanding and application of skills necessary to secure head coaching positions, increase the understanding and awareness of competencies necessary for success in head coaching at the intercollegiate level, motivate assistant coaches and coordinators to pursue careers as head coaches at the Football Bowl Subdivision level, introduce minority coaches to senior-level coaches and administrators and raise public awareness of the existing talent pool of minority coaches.

" This three day workshop will help me in my career advancement for becoming head football coach," Morand said.
