CIAA Football Players of the Week- Week Eleven

Offensive Lineman of the Week:
Matt Silva, OL, Jr., Virginia Union, 6-1, 270, Rockville, MD
Silva anchored an offensive line that allowed the Panthers to post 417 yards of total offense, including 370 yards rushing. His performance allowed VUU to showcase two 100-yard backs. Quarterback Lamar Little rushed for 121 yards, while Elihu Smith rushed for 119 yards.
 
Receiver of the Week:
Jeremy Franklin, WR, Fr., Johnson C. Smith, 6-3, 200, Casselberry, Fla.
Jeremy had just two catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns vs. Livingstone College. He did not play the second half of the game, as the score was already 44 to 7.
 
Offensive Back of the Week:
Jermaine Williams, RB, Fr., Saint Paul's, 5-9, 198, Wilson, NC
SPC Tiger, Williams can be attributed to 161 yards on 28 carries, 1 TD, 5.8 yards per carry in their win over Virginia State. 
 
Defensive Lineman of the Week:
Alex Hall, DE, Sr., Saint Augustine's, 6-6, 260,Glenarden, MD

Hall capped his stellar college career with 8 tackles including 3.5 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks. Hall also had 1 pass breakup and 1 quarterback hurry in a 17-3 loss to Shaw.
 
Defensive Back of the Week:
Christopher Spears, DB, Jr., Saint Paul's, 6-2, 195, Grand Prairie, TX
Spears collected 3 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 7 total tackles, 2 interceptions in SPC's win over VSU.
 
Rookie of the Week:
Arnold Mullins, TB, Fr., Saint Augustine's, 5-10, 180, Philadelphia, PA
Mullins gained a career-high 99 yards on 17 carries in a 17-3 loss to Shaw.
 
Specialty Player of the Week:
Ryne Powell, Kicker, Jr., Shaw University, 5-9, 205, Brown Summit, NC
Powell sealed Shaw's 17 - 3 triumph over Saint Augustine's, by nailing a 45 yard field goal. His three points were the only points scored in the second half.
 
Coach of the Week:
Willard Bailey, Saint Paul's College
Bailey coached the Tigers to their 4th consecutive win. He finished the season with a 5-5 record after starting the season 1-5.
