Hall Makes Browns’ Opening Day Roster

St. Aug's Hall Makes Browns’ Opening Day Roster

September 5, 2008

Former Saint Augustine's College star Alex Hall will be on the opening 53-man roster when the Cleveland Browns host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday (Sept. 7) on the NFL season opening weekend.

Hall, a rookie Cleveland Browns’ linebacker, is the first Saint Augustine’s College player to make an NFL opening day roster since the school re-instituted football in 2002. Because of a season-ending injury to outside linebacker Antwan Peak, Hall is expected to see much action against the Cowboys.

A seventh-round draft choice, Hall emerged as one of the surprises of training camp. Here is what Browns’ general manager Phil Savage said about Hall in an article written by Zac Jackson on www.clevelandbrowns.com:

"Alex, for him to come in out of Saint Augustine's College and actually play as much as he has, play both sides at linebacker and show some rush ability, he's come a long way in a short period of time," Savage said. "He's definitely shown he can compete at this level. He belongs."
A Glenarden, Md., native, Hall was a two-time All-American during his college career at Saint Augustine’s College. He is the school’s all-time sacks leader.

Game time for the Browns-Cowboys contest is 4:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. It will be televised by FOX Sports.
