The CIAA Announces the Best of 2008:
All-Conference Football Team and Players of the
Year
November 5, 2008
Hampton, VA...The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce this season's finest; the All-CIAA Football Team and Player of the Year.
This year's All-Conference Team is led by Offensive Player of the Year, Curtis Rich of Elizabeth City State University. Curtis enters this year's championship game with a 7-0,7-3 record and an Eastern Divisional Championship squad that will return to its second CIAA Championship in three years. Rich ranks among the best in the conference in total offense 1,979 yds and passing average of 186.1 yds/g. Rich is 115-221 on completions and is credited with 17 TDs thus far.
Defensive Player of the Year, Louis Ellis represents the Shaw University Bears, where he ranks as the CIAA's top in tackles for loss, 16 solo-8 ast. Ellis comes in second in the conference for sacks with 8 (.80avg/g). Louis is also credited with 60 total tackles.
Fayetteville State University's Richard Medlin is Special Teams Player of the Year. Medlin leads the conference in scoring 78pts, scoring TDs, 13 (7.8avg/g) and ranks fourth in the conference in rushing 688 yds (68.8avg/p).
The players of the year and all conference teams will be formally recognized at the CIAA Football Championship Luncheon on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Durham Marriott at the Civic Center. This event begins at 12noon.
