December 10, 2008
Nose tackle Marcus Kennedy (Georgetown, SC) of Saint Augustine's College was selected to the 2008 AFCA Division II Coaches All-America team, which was released Wednesday (Dec. 10) by the American Football Coaches Association.
Kennedy, a 6-foot-1, 290-pound senior, is the third football
All-American at Saint Augustine's College since 2002. The others
are Alex Hall, currently a rookie for the NFL's Cleveland Browns,
and Kevin Jones.
Kennedy is the first player from Saint Augustine's College to earn AFCA All-America Team honors, however. He is one of four defensive linemen on the squad.
This is the third postseason award this season for Kennedy, who was named to the 2008 Daktronics Division II All-Super Region 1second team and the 2008 All-CIAA first team. He is the only CIAA player on the 2008 AFCA All-America team.
Kennedy finished fourth nationally with 1.9 tackles for loss per game, and second in the CIAA with 19 tackles for loss. A Human Performance and Wellness major, Kennedy also tied for second in the CIAA with eight sacks. He was the Falcons' second-leading tackler with 61 total tackles.
