CIAA Football Players of the Week- Week Five

Offensive Lineman of the Week: Dillon Kestner , Fayetteville State University
Position:  C  Height:  6-2  Weight:  240  Class:  SO  Hometown:  Durham, NC 
Comments:  Dillon Kestner, helped pave the way for the Broncos to rack up 411 total offensive yards (238 rushing and 173 passing). Kestner was vital in the Broncos' final scoring drive which put the game away, 23-13. FSU ran 14 plays from their own one-yard line down the field for the score. 62 of the 99 yards came from the ground. The backs utilized the middle on draw plays and continued to run to the strong side of Kestner and McDonald. 

Receiver of the Week: Lenell King, Shaw University
Position WR  Height:    Weight:   Class:  SR  Hometown:  Mound Bayou, MS
Comments: King caught six passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns; the longest touchdown pass was for 82 yards.

Offensive Back of the Week: CJ Westler, Chowan University
Position:  QB  Height:  5'10  Weight:  200  Class:  Jr  Hometown:  Marion, OH 
Comments:  CJ Westler continued to rack up passing yards as he completed 21 passes in 47 attempts with 3 TD tosses and one interception in a 51-28 loss to VUU. The junior amassed 279 yards through the air and gained 26 yards on the ground. 

Defensive Lineman of the Week: Jarvis Stokes, Saint Paul's College
Position:  DE  Height:  6-3  Weight:  205  Class:  So  Hometown:  Ft. Lauderdale, FL 
Comments:  Stokes ended the game against JCSU with 6 tackles, 2 for a loss of 6 yards and 1 sack for a loss of 5 yards. 

Linebacker of the Week:  Hurley Hemphill, III, Virginia Union University
Position:  LB  Height:  6-2  Weight:  240  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Kannapolis, NC 
Comments:  Hemphill's performance was highlighted by a 44-yard fumble recovery returned for the first VUU touchdown in the contest. Hemphill posted a team-high 9 tackles - including 2 for a loss of 18 yards, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass break-up and 1 sack for a loss of 5 yards.  

Defensive Back of the Week: Greg Toler, Saint Paul's College
Position:  DB  Height:  6-1  Weight:  180  Class:  Sr  Hometown:  Washington, DC 
Comments:  Toler played an all-around great game. This preseason All-CIAA pick finished the game with 7 tackles, 1 interception, 2 pass break-ups and one tackle for a loss of 2 yards. He leads the team in interceptions, tackles and pass break-ups. 

Rookie of the Week: Robert Massey-Brice, Livingstone College
Position:  LB  Height:  5-8  Weight:  190  Class:  FR  Hometown:  Charlotte, NC 
Comments:  Massey-Brice had a total of 12 tackles (6 solos, 6 assisted), 1 sack that forced a fumble, 2 tackles for loss and 1 pass break up. 

Specialty Player of the Week: Reggie Smith, Elizabeth City State University
Position: PR/KR/WR Height: 5-11  Weight: 195  Class: Jr  Hometown: Ft. Wayne, IN 
Comments:  In the first quarter at the Down East Viking Football Classic,  Smith returned the Falcons' first punt of the day 80 yards for a touchdown. He has now returned both a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown this season.

Coach of the Week: Lamonte J. Massie, Livingstone College 
Comments:  Coach Massie guided the Blue Bears to their first victory in over 19 games; dating back to the 2006 season.
