Offensive Lineman of the Week: Dillon
Kestner , Fayetteville State University

Comments: Dillon Kestner was a key
component to the Broncos' win. The Broncos racked up 424 total
offensive yards against Chowan off of 66 total plays. FSU had 211
rushing yards from 44 attempts and 213 passing yards on 12
completions. The Broncos converted 5 of 5 fourth down conversions.
The line only gave up 20 yards loss on rushing. The offense did not
have any penalties except for one delay of game.

Comments: Jeremy continued his offensive
prowess against Livingstone College. The sophomore had 7 receptions
for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
Offensive Back of the Week: Bryan Hardy,
Fayetteville State University

6-3 Weight: 212
Class: SR Hometown:
Vanceboro, NC Comments: Hardy led the
Broncos with 213 passing yards, connecting on 12 of 20 passing
attempts. Hardy threw for three TDs and had his longest TD hurl for
61 yards. On the ground, Hardy scampered around for 70 yards and
one TD run. His TD run was for 21 yards. He was only sacked once in
the backfield.
Defensive Lineman of the Week: Marcus Kennedy,
Saint Augustine's College

Comments: Kennedy collected 10 total
tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks to lead the
Falcons to a 27-16 upset win over Shaw. The Falcons held Shaw, the
CIAA's top scoring team, to its lowest point total since the Bears
lost 27-10 against Albany State in their season opener.
Linebacker of the Week: Lester Graham,
Saint Augustine's College

Comments: Graham had 10 total tackles, one
interception return for 33 yards which led to a touchdown, and a
70-yard return for a touchdown on a blocked field goal to spark the
Falcons to a 27-16 upset win over Shaw.
Defensive Back of the Week: Lorinzo Lovely,
Elizabeth City State University

Class: SR Hometown:
Hollywood, FL
Comments: Lovely had a career day in the
Vikings' 35-7 win over Virginia State. He finished with a personal
best 11 tackles (8 solo, 3 assisted) including one for a loss of a
yard, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.
Rookie of the Week: Nicholas Bethea, Saint
Paul's College

Comments: Bethea carried the ball 18 times
for 98-yards. He also made had two receptions for 12-yards and two
kick-off returns for 55-yards. Bethea earn 165-all purpose yards
marking his 4th consecutive game with at least 100 all purpose
yards in only 4 games played.
Specialty Player of the Week: Richard Medlin,
Fayetteville State University

6-1 Weight: 220

Garner, NC
Comments: Richard Medlin set the game
a-foot when he took the opening kickoff back to the house with an
89-yard touchdown. Later in the fourth quarter, he again managed an
85-yard kickoff return for another score. Medlin is a specialty
player who ran for 47 yards on limited touches and pulled down a
pass for 12 receiving yards and had a punt return for 5 yards for a
total of 235 all purpose yards. With the Broncos' versatile
offense, Medlin walked into the end-zone on a three yard run to
total three TDs on the night.
Coach of the Week: Michael Costa, Saint
Augustine's College
Comments: After losing four straight games,
the Falcons regrouped under Costa to stun arch-rival Shaw 27-16 in
the Cross-town Showdown. With the win, the Falcons remained in the
hunt for the Western Division title.
Notes of Interest:
*The Falcons beat the Bears at home (Broughton High School Stadium) for the second straight time. In 2005, the Falcons won 33-0. The Falcons have won three of the last four meetings against Shaw by an average of 24 points.
*Fayetteville State hasn't lost to a DII
opponent this season and leads the Western Division at
3-0.
