St. Augustine's Green and ECSU's Brooks Headline CIAA Football All-Rookie Team

HAMPTON, VA- Saint Augustine's Joaquin Green (Pittsboro, NC) and Elizabeth City State's Josh Brooks (Washington, DC) lead a talented class of freshmen that comprise the 2009 CIAA Football All-Rookie Offensive and Defensive teams as voted by the CIAA Sports Information Directors' Association.
Green was chosen as the 2009 CIAA Offensive Rookie of the Year after guiding the Falcons from the quarterback position this season. The freshman played in nine games under center, accounting for 12 touchdown passes and 1,318 total passing yards. He was the fourth ranked quarterback in the league and the top freshman at that position. His mark of 12 touchdowns was second in the league and he finished up ranked 6th in total offense. Green was named a D2football.com National Player of the Week for throwing six touchdowns in only his second collegiate start the week of September 9th.
Brooks was voted the 2009 CIAA Defensive Rookie of the Year after turning in a solid first year as a regular in the Viking secondary. The defensive back tallied 25 solo and eight assisted tackles for 33 total tackles. He had three interceptions, one pass break up, four passes defended, and two forced fumbles in 10 games this season. Brooks had season highs against Virginia State University (8 tackles) and Chowan University (5 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception). A complete list of the rookie team is as follows:
