VIKINGS GROUND FALCONS 29-27

RALEIGH, NC-Justin Hamilton's block of a field goal attempt with three seconds remaining helped the Elizabeth City State Vikings preserve a 29-27 road win over the Saint Augustine's Falcons yesterday in Raleigh.

The Vikings, who entered the contest averaging over 400 yards of total offense per game, were held to a season-low 172 yards by the Falcons' defense. Saint Augustine's rolled up 368 yards of offense, but turned the ball over seven times.

The Falcons took a 27-23 lead with 3:02 left in the game when Joaquin Green capped off a 6-play, 83-yard drive with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jone' Harris (3 receptions, 108 yards, 2 TDs).

On their ensuing possession, the Vikings moved the ball 58 yards in five plays and regained the lead on Cedric Blacknall's 2-yard touchdown run. The PAT failed and ECSU led 29-27 with 1:33 left in the game.

Trailing by two with a little over a minute remaining, the Falcons put together a 10-play drive that moved the ball down to the ECSU 17-yard line. Following a timeout, Falcon kicker Adison Daniels lined up for a game-winning 34-yard field attempt with three seconds left in the contest. Daniels' kick was blocked by Hamilton and recovered by the Vikings (4-1, 2-0 CIAA) as time expired preserving the 29-27 win.
