CIAA Football Players of the Week- Week Five

Offensive Lineman of the Week: Ricky Rodriguez, Saint Augustine's
Position:  Center  Height:  6-2  Weight:  295  Class:  Jr.  Hometown:  Miami, Fla. 
Comments:  Rodriguez anchored an offensive line that helped the offense gain 368 total offensive yards against ECSU in a 29-27 loss.  

Receiver of the Week:  Jone' Harris, Saint Augustine's
Position:  TE  Height:  6-4  Weight:  250  Class:  Jr.  Hometown:  Fairfield, Calif. 
Comments:  Harris caught three passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns against ECSU. His TD receptions went for 43 and 34 yards. It is the second straight 100-yard plus day in catches for Harris.  

Offensive Back of the Week: Rodney Webb, Bowie State
Position:  RB  Height:  5-9  Weight:  208  Class:  Jr.  Hometown:  Baltimore, MD 
Comments:  Webb rushed for a game and career-high 174 yards and scored two touchdowns helping propel the BSU Bulldogs past the Shaw Bears, 31-24 in double OT.  

Defensive Lineman of the Week: Larry Jones, Elizabeth City State
Position:  DL  Height:  6-6  Weight:  245  Class:  So  Hometown:  Courtland, VA 
Comments:  Jones tied a career high for sacks in a game with three for a loss of 18 yards versus Saint Augustine's on Saturday. He also had six tackles (3 solo, 3 assisted) in the Vikings 29-27 win over the Falcons. 

Linebacker of the Week:  Delano Johnson, Bowie State
Position:  LB  Height:  6-4  Weight:  237  Class:  So.  Hometown:  Baltimore, MD 
Comments:  Johnson recorded a team-high eight total tackles (5 solo and 3 assisted), one sack (8 yards), 2.5 tackles for a loss (20 yards) and two hurries to lead Bowie State to the upset win over previously unbeaten Shaw.  

Defensive Back of the Week: Alfred Ngauja, Virginia State
Position: DB  Height:  5-11   Weight:  185   Class:  SO   Hometown:  Alexandria, VA
Comments: Ngauja returned a fumble for a CIAA-record 95-yard touchdown, and intercepted a pass in the end-zone as time expired to preserve a 25-20 VSU upset over Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, N.C.  Ngauja also returned the game's opening kickoff 81 yards before being tackled just short of the end zone. 

Rookie of the Week: Emmanuel Yeager, Bowie State
Position:  QB  Height:  6-2  Weight:  195  Class:  Fr.  Hometown:  New Carrolton, MD 
Comments:  Yeager came off the bench late in the first quarter and stepped up big, completing 15-of-22 passes for a team-high 128 yards and two touchdowns. His biggest play of the game came in the second overtime period, connecting with senior Larry Dixon for the eventual game winning, 30-yard touchdown. 

Specialty Player of the Week: Gregory Jackson, Bowie State
Position:  WR  Height:  5-10  Weight:  180  Class:  Fr.  Hometown:  Accokeek, MD 
Comments:  Jackson ranked third on the team in total tackles; tallying five tackles (all solo).  

Coach of the Week: Damon Wilson, Bowie State 
Comments:  Wilson and his Bowie State Bulldogs picked up a huge statement victory over previously unbeaten Shaw; defeating the Bears 31-24 in double overtime.
