CIAA Football Players of the Week- Week Six

Offensive Lineman of the Week: Dillon Kestner, Fayetteville State

Position:  Center Height:  6-2  Weight:  291  Class:  Jr.  Hometown:  Durham, NC 

Comments:  Kestner led an FSU offensive line that rolled up 434 yards of total offense, including a season-high 268 on the ground. 

Receiver of the Week:  Brian Berry, Virginia State

Position:  WR  Height:  5-10  Weight:  185  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Conyers, GA 

Comments:  Berry returned to his starting wide receiver position for the first time in three weeks, and racked up 103 yards on five receptions in VSU's 23-10 win over Elizabeth City State. Berry also led VSU with 103 all-purpose yards. 

Offensive Back of the Week: Leonard Johnson, Virginia State

Position:  QB  Height:  6-1  Weight:  190  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Florence, SC 

Comments:  Johnson returned to the Trojan starting lineup and engineered a 23-10 upset of Elizabeth City State University. Johnson completed 12 of 18 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. 

Defensive Lineman of the Week: Darius Powell, Fayetteville State

Position:  DE  Height:  6-3  Weight:  225  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Waldorf, MD 

Comments:  Darius Powell amassed two of FSU's 10 sacks in its 37-17 win over Chowan. Powell and the FSU defense held the CIAA's leading passer, C.J. Westler to 161 yards passing. 

Linebacker of the Week:  Joseph Brown, Fayetteville State

Position:  LB  Height:  6-0  Weight:  220  Class:  Sr.  Hometown:  New Bern, NC 

Comments:  Brown tallied 10 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. He also had two pass breakups and helped the FSU defense hold the CIAA's leading passer, C.J. Westler to 161 yards passing. 

Defensive Back of the Week: Adrian Horton, Fayetteville State

Position:  SS  Height:  6-0  Weight:  185  Class:  SR  Hometown:  Clayton, NC 

Comments:  Horton accumulated nine tackles, a forced fumble and an interception in FSU's 37-17 win over Chowan.

Rookie of the Week:  Tyrae Reid, Jr., Bowie State

Position:  QB  Height:  6-3  Weight:  175  Class:  Fr.  Hometown:  Baltimore, MD

Comments:  Reid threw for a team-high 151 yards and three touchdowns, completing 10 of 16 passes. 

Specialty Player of the Week: Marlon Buchanan, Saint Paul's

Position:  Punter  Height:  5-11  Weight:  200  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Fairhope, AL 

Comments:  Four punts for 141 yards; averaged 35.2. His longest was for 40 yards with 2 touchbacks. 

Coach of the Week: Andrew Faison, Virginia State University 

Comments:  Coach Faison guided the Trojans to a 23-10 upset win over Eastern Division leading Elizabeth City State University on Saturday. It was the second straight win for VSU.
