Chowan's Simpson selected HSRN Division II Player of the Week

October 20, 2010

Ryan Simpson (Hartly, DE) Chowan's Ryan Simpson is the week eight winner of the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) National Division II Player of the Week award.   Simpson helped lead the Hawks to a 31-20 win over Saint Pauls last Saturday with 258 yards passing, two rushing touchdowns, and a touchdown through the air. Chowan won their third straight game for the first time since moving to Div. II in 2006.  It is also their longest win streak since joining the CIAA.

Simpson is the 3rd player in the program's history to garner the honor. Last season both CJ Westler and Robert Holland were named HSRN's DII National Player of the Week.

Each week during the season, HSRN’s staff will select the top performances from all HBCU action and give the fans across the country a chance to vote for the Player of the Week. HSRN developed the fan poll to get all HBCU alumni, students and fans involved with the national process and to also give everyone a chance to consistently keep up with the individual performances around the country.
