Shaw’s Williams Named Boxtorow.com’s National Player of the Week

November 10, 2010

(RALEIGH, NC)-  Shaw running back Raymond Williams was named the Boxtorow.com National Player of the Week for his performance against Saint Augustine’s this past Saturday.  He had already been honored as a finalist in Heritage Sports Radio Network’s Player of the Week poll.

Williams accounted for 78% of Shaw's offensive yardage as the Bears earned a spot in the CIAA Championship game with a 10-6 win over Saint Augustine's. Trailing late in the fourth, Williams put the offense on his back, rushing for 69 yards in a drive that resulted in what would be the game-winning touchdown. Williams gained 137 yards with the one touchdown rushing, with another eight yards in kick returns.

As a result of the honor, Williams will make his first appearance on the nationally syndicated FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW.  The show airs on 33 radio stations around the country, including Saturdays from 1 - 2 p.m. on WAUG-AM 750 in the Triangle.

FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW host Donal Ware interviewed Williams this week.  The interview is also posted at www.boxtorow.com.

Williams and the Bears will take to the field Saturday, November 13 in the CIAA Championship game against Northern Division champion Virginia State.  The game begins at 1:00 p.m. at Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, NC.  Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.theciaa.com and will also be available at the gate.
