Saint Augustine’s Wells added to Dixie Gridiron
Classic Roster
Joins teammate Walter Sanders on Classic Roster
January 31, 2011
Senior offensive lineman Justin Wells (Baltimore, Md.) will join
teammate Walter Sanders in Saturday’s college football
all-star game at Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah. The
contest will start at 2 p.m. ET.
Wells competed in the HBCU Classic with Sanders in December 2010.
He gets another chance to display his talents before professional
scouts against top-level competition. Eighty-five percent of the
players scheduled to participate in the Dixie Gridiron Classic
played at Division I schools.
Wells more than held his own in the CIAA. He earned all-conference
first-team honors in addition to making the Don Hansen All-Super
Region One third team. A 6-foot-5, 290-pound guard, Wells anchored
an offensive line which helped Sanders win the league rushing title
with 1,377 yards and 15 touchdowns. Sanders was named the CIAA
offensive player of the year.
The Falcons averaged 152.6 rushing yards per game, and were second
in the CIAA in time of possession (30:43). The running game helped
key the Falcons to a record 9-2 overall mark and the 2010 Pioneer
Bowl title.
