Shaw Releases 2011 Football Schedule
March 9, 2011
(RALEIGH, NC)- Shaw University today announced its 2011
football schedule. The 11-game schedule features seven away
games, a matchup against a Division I (FCS) school, and a return to
Durham County’s Memorial Stadium.
“This schedule has something for everyone and will allow our
alumni base in some farther flung areas to come see the Bears this
season,” said Athletic Director Al Carter. “And
our local fan base will be excited to return to Durham and the
outstanding stadium there.”
Shaw, the reigning CIAA champion, opens its season with three
non-conference road games – travelling to Stillman, Division
I (FCS) Delaware State, and Benedict.
They then return home for a three-game home stand against Elizabeth
City State, Livingstone and Johnson C. Smith – which will be
this year’s homecoming game on October 8.
The Bears then leave for another three-game road trip – this
one to Fayetteville State, Chowan and Winston-Salem State.
Their annual clash with cross-town rival closes out the season on
November 5 in Durham. (The full schedule is below.)
The Bears played in Durham County for both the 2007 and 2008
seasons, then shifted to local high schools (Millbrook and
Southeast Raleigh) for the last two seasons.
