ASU’s Riley and SAC’s Laughinghouse Win Week-4
Fan Poll National Player of the Week Honors
Hartly, DE – Alabama State fans ran away with the voting on
the FCS side and St. Augustine’s fans held on in Division
II. ASU’s FS Kejuan Riley and SAC’s WR Tyron
Laughinghouse are the winners of week-four Fan Poll voting for the
HSRN National Player of the Week. Each week during the
season, HSRN’s staff will select the top performances from
all HBCU action and give the fans across the country a chance to
vote for the Player of the Week.
In Div. I FCS voting Riley won with 516 votes, QB Derrick Wiley
(S.C. State) finished with 154 votes, QB Jerry Lovelocke (Prairie
View) 28 and RB Lavante Page (Florida A&M) 14. Div. II
voting has Laughinghouse with 615 votes, followed by RB Daronte
McNeill (Elizabeth City St.) 508, QB Jerrel Noland (Kentucky St.)
129 and QB Cheston Hickman (VA Union) 49.
HSRN developed the fan poll to get all HBCU alumni, students and
fans involved with the national process and to also give everyone a
chance to consistently keep up with the individual performances
around the country. This web site and our broadcasts are
designed to keep you abreast of all action around HBCU athletic
competition.
Div. I-FCS
Kejuan Riley – Alabama St. – FS – 6’2, 208
– JR/Wetumpka, AL
Riley made a career-high 12 tackles (nine solo) and tied a
career-high two interceptions in the Hornets 21-14 win over Jackson
St. Riley’s interceptions were in the second and third
quarters, both in the red zone, with the second leading to a
Hornets’ touchdown. Riley has made two interceptions in
each of the past two games. His five interceptions this
season leads the FCS and is two of his career high set last
season. Riley’s 13 career interceptions is tied for
sixth in ASU history since 1970. The Hornets defeated
HSRN’s #2 Jackson St. 21-14.
Div. II
Tyron Laughinghouse – St. Augustine’s
– WR/KR – 6’3, 175 – JR/Greenville, NC
Laughinghouse scored three touchdowns against Lincoln, including
two pass receptions. He caught touchdown passes for 37 and 32
yards. He also scored on a 58 yard punt return and finished
the game with four receptions for 98 yards and 197 all-purpose
yards. He tied the mark for most touchdowns in a game be a
Falcon since 202. The Falcons defeated Lincoln (PA)
34-17.
