Three CIAA Players nominated for HSRN Player of the Week
St. Augustine's Bacote, Lincoln's Jones and Elizabeth City State's McNeill all vie for national honor

Hartly, DE –The Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) has announced national player of the week fan poll week five nominees. Each week, HSRN will announce a national player of the week from both the top DI-FCS and Division II action.
The top performance each week will be selected and the HBCU fans across the country will get a chance to cast their vote for who they think had the best game. The Fan Poll is designed to get fans involved with the excitement of the HBCU college football action. Fans are asked to log on to HSRN.com and cast their vote for the top performance. Fans can vote on the poll today (Sun., Oct. 9) thru Wednesday (Oct. 12) until 11 am CT. The CIAA nominees are:
Div. II
Teddy Bacote – St. Augustine’s –
QB – 6’3, 200 – SO/Hampton, VA
Bacote passed for a career high against WSSU with 464 yards,
completing 38 of 65 passes, which set a school single-game record
for passing yardage. Bacote threw four touchdown passes but the
Falcons fell short 35-28 to Winston Salem St.
Daron Jones – Lincoln (PA) – LB
– 5’10, 185 – SR/Baltimore, MD
The Senior Linebacker did it again for the Lincoln Lions. With the
momentum shifting toward the Lions early in the third quarter,
Jones picked off Chowan quarterback Jordan Roby and went 51-yards
down the right sideline for the score, giving Lincoln a 25-7 lead
with 9:29 remaining in the third quarter. For Jones, it was his
third interception return of the season (Kentucky State, Virginia
Union and Chowan).
Daronte McNeill – Elizabeth City St.
– RB – 6’2, 215 – JR/Elizabeth City, NC
In the Vikings three overtime win over CIAA Northern Division rival
VA. Union, McNeill’s performance led them to a CIAA showdown
43-41 3 OT win over rival Virginia Union. McNeill finished
with 41 carries and 233 yards and four touchdowns.
